Basketball Game Preview: Madison Warhawks vs. Moreau Catholic Mariners

The Madison Warhawks will be taking part in a tournament against the Moreau Catholic Mariners at 2:15 p.m. on Friday. Madison knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Moreau Catholic likes a good challenge.

On Thursday, the stars were shining brightly for Madison in a 68-51 victory over San Diego. Given the Warhawks' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while the Cavers are ranked 441st) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Madison's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caleb Gleason, who shot 67% from the field en route to 20 points and five boards. That's the most points Gleason has posted since back in December of 2024. Runnar(rj) Miller was another key player, going 6-for-14 on his way to 16 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Moreau Catholic had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.6 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They skirted past the Hornets 66-64. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mariners have posted since March 1st.

Madison's record now sits at 10-0. As for Moreau Catholic, their record is now 7-1.
