Basketball Game Preview: Bloomfield Bees vs. Wausa Vikings

Bloomfield is 8-2 against Wausa since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Bloomfield Bees just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Wausa Vikings at 6:00 p.m. Bloomfield will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Bloomfield is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Winside: they outscored them in every quarter. Everything went Bloomfield's way against Winside on Monday as Bloomfield made off with a 52-27 win. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Bees had established a 23 point advantage.

Bloomfield found their leader in freshman Madyson Mlady, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. The contest was Mlady's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Eisenhauer, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Wausa was able to grind out a solid victory over Winside on Friday, taking the game 44-32. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Wausa's win came from a few key players Bloomfield will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Taylor Dawson, who scored 13 points and four steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 18 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Olivia Barta, who put up 14 points and four steals.

Bloomfield has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.1 points per game. As for Wausa, their win ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-8.

Bloomfield came up short against Wausa when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 39-30. Can Bloomfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
