Baseball Game Preview: Halifax Academy Vikings vs. Rocky Mount Academy Eagles

Halifax Academy is 0-10 against Rocky Mount Academy since April of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Halifax Academy Vikings are taking a road trip to face off against the Rocky Mount Academy Eagles at 6:30 p.m.

Halifax Academy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Brunswick Academy on Friday. They fell 6-2 to Brunswick Academy. Vikings fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Brunswick Academy since on Friday.

Halifax Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braxton Bennett, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI. The dominant performance gave Bennett a new career-high in stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Rocky Mount Academy narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Lawrence Academy 6-5.

Jordan Creech-Jones made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Creech-Jones was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Dustin Proctor and Deacon Stinson did most of the damage at the plate: Proctor scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Stinson got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Rocky Mount Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Halifax Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Halifax Academy couldn't quite finish off Rocky Mount Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can Halifax Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
