Baseball Game Preview: Grass Lake Warriors vs. Michigan Center Cardinals

The Grass Lake Warriors will head out to face off against the Michigan Center Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Grass Lake knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Michigan Center likes a good challenge.

Grass Lake's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Addison. That looming 15-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Warriors yet this season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Michigan Center was a bit more limited in their contest on Monday. They fell just short of Jonesville by a score of 3-1. The loss put an end to the Cardinals' undefeated start to the season.

Dylan Whitmill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Michigan Center saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brennan Forward, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Grass Lake's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 9 runs thus far. As for Michigan Center, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
