Recap: Vina Red Devils vs. Waterloo Cougars
The Vina Red Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 55-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Waterloo. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Vina in their matchups with Waterloo: they've now lost four in a row.
Vina's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Layla Hester, who scored 19 points along with two steals, and Mikala Mitchell who scored seven points along with six rebounds and five assists. Hester hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Kaley Attaway was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds.
Vina has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season. As for Waterloo, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.
Vina will look to defend their home court on Monday against Hubbertville at 5:00 p.m. As for Waterloo, they will head out on the road to square off against Lindsay Lane Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
