Baseball Recap: Fenwick Wins Going Away Against St. Francis

Fenwick was forced to take a big defeat against they on Monday, they got the better of them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the St. Francis Spartans with a sharp 12-4 victory. This was a revenge game for the Friars: when they faced off against the Spartans on Monday, they had to take a 14-4 loss.

Harrison Dragus looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Fenwick got a massive performance out of JJ Obaldo, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. The Friars are 5-1 when Obaldo posts two or more runs, but 9-12-1 otherwise. Josh Morgan was another key player, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with two runs and one double.

Fenwick now has a winning record of 14-13-1. As for St. Francis, they moved to 22-4 with that defeat, which also ended their 18-game winning streak.

Fenwick and St. Francis should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Friars (ranked 134th) will meet Aurora Central Catholic (ranked 279th) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, St. Francis will challenge Montini Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (27 vs. 123).
