Football Game Preview: Calhoun County Saints vs. C.A. Johnson Hornets

The Calhoun County Saints will be playing at home against the C.A. Johnson Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Calhoun County not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since November 1, 2024 (when they won 37-0). They blew past Wagener-Salley 35-0. The Saints haven't had any issues with the War Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for C.A. Johnson, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They walked away with a 30-20 victory over Lee Central on Friday.

Calhoun County better keep an eye on Stacey Isaac. He was instrumental in C.A. Johnson's win, throwing for 226 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.3 yards per attempt. Isaac's passing game has become a key predictor of the Hornets' success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 3-4 otherwise. Jeremiah Knightner helped Isaac out on the ground, rushing for 65 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries.

One reason for the win was C.A. Johnson's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Johnathon Jenkins refused to say out of the backfield, picking up three sacks all by himself. Another thorn in Lee Central's side was Jenkins, who picked up three sacks, forced one fumble, and made 17 total tackles (5.0 for loss).

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-8. As for C.A. Johnson, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Everything went Calhoun County's way against C.A. Johnson in their previous meeting back in October of 2019, as Calhoun County made off with a 36-13 win. Do the Saints have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
