Softball Game Preview: Marshall Barristers vs. Bravo Knights

The Marshall Barristers will square off against the Bravo Knights at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Marshall took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Lincoln 5-4.

Alyana Mendoza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Alexa Guerrero was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Arianna Carrera, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Marshall hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln struck out nine times.

Meanwhile, Bravo made easy work of Wilson on Wednesday and carried off a 16-4 victory. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by ten runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Alany Mendoza, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Cordova, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Bravo has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Marshall, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
