The Venture Academy Mustangs will head out on the road to square off against the Amador Buffaloes at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Venture Academy has 13 straight victories, Amador has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Venture Academy's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Ben Holt College Prep Academy with a sharp 11-0 win. Considering the Mustangs have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Angel Voller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Roman Stewart and Omarion Walker did most of the damage at the plate: Stewart scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Walker got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Stewart also put up a home run, which was his first of the season. Xavier Perez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Venture Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March.
Meanwhile, Amador came up short against Union Mine on Thursday and fell 5-1. That's two games in a row now that the Buffaloes have lost by exactly four runs.
Venture Academy pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Amador, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10-1.
Amador's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Venture Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .517.
