Softball Recap: Spruce Timberwolves vs. Seagoville Dragons
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Spruce). Everything went their way against the Seagoville Dragons on Tuesday as they made off with a 21-9 win. The Timberwolves not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 5, 2024.
Marlene D. made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). D. was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. She also put up two hits, which were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Starla J was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those hits marked the first that she got this season. Another player making a difference was Madison S., who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Spruce always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .818. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2024.

Spruce's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-11. As for Seagoville, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10-1.
