Softball Game Preview: Lloyd Memorial Juggernauts vs. Notre Dame Academy Pandas

The Lloyd Memorial Juggernauts will venture away from home to take on the Notre Dame Academy Pandas at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lloyd Memorial will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Lloyd Memorial barely beat Dayton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Lloyd Memorial put the hurt on Dayton with a sharp 16-4 win on Friday. The Juggernauts have beaten the Greendevils the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Greendevils has come to flipping the script.

Layla Laudick made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Cici Kuhn-Stevenson and Mady Godsey did most of the damage at the plate: Kuhn-Stevenson scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Godsey scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Kuhn-Stevenson also put up two hits, which were her first of the season. Samantha Canter was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Lloyd Memorial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Notre Dame Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Cooper.

Lloyd Memorial's record is now 2-4. As for Notre Dame Academy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Lloyd Memorial suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Notre Dame Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can Lloyd Memorial avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
