Football Recap: Sheridan Comes Up Short

Sheridan lost against Marion back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Yellowjackets fell 61-51 to the Patriots. While the Yellowjackets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Patriots 31-20 in the first quarter.

When it comes to explaining why Sheridan lost, don't look at Zay Stephens. Despite the final result, he rushed for 218 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per carry, and also picked up 44 receiving yards. Stephens was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 58 yards. Dylan Smith was another key player, picking up 181 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Sheridan's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Marion, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Coming up, Sheridan will head out to take on Sylvan Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bears will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Yellowjackets surely won't give up without a fight. As for Marion, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots will be up against the Rockets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 38.13 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
