Baseball Recap: St. Michael's Takes a Loss

After soaring to 13 runs the game before, St. Michael was a bit more limited in their matchup on Monday. They fell 5-2 to the Capital Jaguars. If the Horsemen were looking for revenge after losing 5-4 to the Jaguars when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Santiago Martinez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Derick Saiz, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

St. Michael's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Capital, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Michael's will welcome Bosque at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in the Horsemen's favor as the team sits on nine straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Bobcats have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for Capital, they will host Eldorado at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Jaguars 3.9, the Golden Eagles 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
