Preview: Chapel Hill Panthers vs. Banneker Trojans
The Chapel Hill Panthers will square off against the Banneker Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Chapel Hill was beaten by Creekside 63-33. While losing is never fun, Chapel Hill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while Creekside is ranked 72nd).
Despite the defeat, Chapel Hill had strong showings from Emahni Chambliss, who scored 19 points along with two steals, and Bryale Thomas, who scored six points along with five rebounds. That was a full 57.6% of Chapel Hill's points, marking the 11th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Banneker's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their tenth straight loss. They took a 51-34 bruising from Tri-Cities.
Chapel Hill dropped their record down to 5-19 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Banneker, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 14 of their last 15 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-21 record this season.
Chapel Hill beat Banneker 67-55 when the teams last played two weeks ago. Will Chapel Hill repeat their success, or does Banneker have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
