The Boron Bobcats will face off against the Immanuel Christian Crusaders at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Boron will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
Boron had taken Rosamond down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Bobcats took an 18-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Roadrunners.
Kalli Wolfe was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Melissa Gonzalez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Immanuel Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Everything went their way against Legacy Christian Academy last Thursday as they made off with a 23-1 win. The Crusaders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by ten runs or more this season.
Abigail Barham and Erin French were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Barham pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, French struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Barham scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while French scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases Barham has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Ava Blakie was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Loughlin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Immanuel Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Immanuel Christian's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Boron, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Boron has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .531. However, it's not like Immanuel Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .528. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Boron couldn't quite get it done against Immanuel Christian in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 8-3. Can the Bobcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
