Basketball Game Preview: Elgin/Pope John Wolfpack vs. Fullerton Warriors

Elgin/Pope John hasn't had much luck against Fullerton recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Elgin/Pope John Wolfpack will head out to challenge the Fullerton Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Elgin/Pope John will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

On Saturday, Elgin/Pope John strolled past Bloomfield with points to spare, taking the game 46-32. Given the Wolfpack's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Bees are ranked 250th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Fullerton waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They enjoyed a cozy 52-36 win over the Huskies.

Elgin/Pope John better keep an eye on Kane Wetovick. He was instrumental in Fullerton's win, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 17 rebounds. Wetovick's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nolan Dubas, who posted four points and seven boards.

Elgin/Pope John is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.7 points per game. As for Fullerton, they pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Everything came up roses for Elgin/Pope John against Fullerton in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, as the team secured an 84-37 win. In that game, Elgin/Pope John amassed a halftime lead of 44-17, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
