Baseball Recap: Everglades Comes Up Short

Everglades was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gulliver Prep Raiders.

Anthony Lugo was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for Everglades: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-10 otherwise.

Everglades' loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Gulliver Prep, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-20.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Everglades will take on Mater Academy Charter at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gulliver Prep, they will face off against Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Stallions have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
