Baseball Recap: Charlie Maddrey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fike over West Johnston

Fike lost against West Johnston back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Demons might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 9-1 to the Wildcats, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Demons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fike got a good showing from Lawson Boykin, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time Boykin hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March.

On the hitting side, Fike saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charlie Maddrey, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Fike's record is now 6-12. As for West Johnston, they pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Fike will challenge rival East Wake at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, West Johnston is set to take on their familiar foe Southern Wayne at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
