Canon City dropped their record down to 10-7 on Saturday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks by a score of 2-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 4-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Cheyenne Mountain, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4-1 record this season. Those two runs were actually the fewest they have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

For Cheyenne Mountain's part, Javin Eslinger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. Eslinger has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cheyenne Mountain saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charlie Scofield, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Canon City didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-0 win against Harrison on the 29th. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 13-5 victory against Lutheran on the 29th.
