Basketball Recap: Avon Park Comes Up Short on the Road Against Mckeel Academy + How To Watch

Avon Park had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. The contest between the Red Devils and the McKeel Academy Wildcats didn't end well, with the Red Devils falling 82-63. The Red Devils have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Several Red Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Christopher Kelly, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Kelly is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 20 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Karl Pierre-Louis, who posted 14 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McKeel Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Michael Sams III, who almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine assists. What's more, Sams III also posted a 42% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Deion Drone was another key player, shooting 58% from the field en route to 20 points and eight rebounds.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avon Park will square off against Lake Placid at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for McKeel Academy, they will face off against The First Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
