Baseball Recap: Key West Has No Trouble Against ABF Academy Homestead

Key West won the last time they faced ABF Academy Homestead and things went their way on Saturday too. The Key West Conchs put the hurt on the ABF Academy Homestead Bandits with a sharp 8-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Conchs.

Christian Koppal looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Roman Garcia, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kade Maltz, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Key West's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for ABF Academy Homestead, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Key West has already played their next contest, a 5-4 loss against Miami Christian on the 21st. As for ABF Academy Homestead, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 10-5 victory against Hialeah Educational Academy on the 19th.
