Baseball Game Preview: Simley Spartans vs. St. Paul Central Minutemen

The Simley Spartans will take on the St. Paul Central Minutemen at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Simley is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

Simley will bounce into Wednesday's matchup after beating Hastings, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Spartans blew past the Raiders 8-2 on Saturday. Considering the Spartans have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, St. Paul Central unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They came up short against Edison, falling 9-2. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Minutemen couldn't push the score so high this time.

St. Paul Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emmett Jones, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

St. Paul Central's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Simley, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.

Simley took their victory against St. Paul Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 13-2 score. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Minutemen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
