Basketball Recap: Wood River Comes Up Short

If Wood River was riding high fresh off their 55-32 takedown of Kenesaw last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wood River Eagles took a 66-49 bruising from the Thayer Central Titans on Tuesday.

Sam Souerdyke was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 30 points and ten boards for Thayer Central. The match was Souerdyke's seventh in a row with at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Laken Wiedel, who posted ten points.

Wood River's defeat dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Thayer Central, their victory bumped their record up to 16-7.

Wood River does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Thayer Central, they will head out to face off against Grand Island Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The contest will give Grand Island Central Catholic their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.
