Volleyball Recap: Centralia Orphans vs. Mt. Vernon Rams
Centralia was the 2-0 winner over Mt. Vernon when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Centralia Orphans fell just short of the Mt. Vernon Rams by a score of 2-1 on Thursday.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Centralia sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-22, 19-25, 25-18.
Centralia's loss came despite strong showings from Hattie Castleman and Emaleigh Davis. Castleman had 17 digs and two aces, while Davis had 13 digs. That's the most aces Castleman has posted since back in September.
Centralia has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-13 record this season. As for Mt. Vernon, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-19.
Centralia is on the road again on Tuesday to play Althoff Catholic at 4:30 p.m. Mt. Vernon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
