Volleyball Recap: Joel Barlow Comes Up Short

If Joel Barlow was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Ludlowe on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Falcons took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Shelton Gaels on Wednesday. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gaels apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-17, 25-9, 23-25, 25-22.

Shelton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cooper Bacca, who had 15 digs and one assist. Bacca is crushing it when it comes to digs: he's had at least 13 every time he's taken the court this season.

Joel Barlow's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Shelton, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Joel Barlow has already played their next game (against Westhill), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Shelton, they will square off against Hand at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Gaels are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
