Fordham Prep has gone a perfect 5-0 against Moore Catholic recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Rams will venture away from home to challenge the Mavericks at 11:00 a.m.
Fordham Prep is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering McQuaid Jesuit just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 4-3.
Fordham Prep got a good showing from James Denning, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Denning has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jack McKillop made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
Meanwhile, Moore Catholic had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 9-0 victory. The Mavericks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by nine runs or more this season.
Moore Catholic also got a great performance from KENNY VAZQUEZ as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over six innings pitched. VAZQUEZ has become a key player for the Mavericks: the team is 4-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 3-4-1 otherwise.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on TODD VIERRA, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was BRIAN BADALAMENTI, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI.
Moore Catholic's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-5-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Fordham Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Fordham Prep has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Moore Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Fordham Prep came out on top in a nail-biter against Moore Catholic in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
