Basketball Game Preview: Cherokee Trail Cougars vs. Grandview Wolves

Cherokee Trail is 0-10 against Grandview since January of 2019 but things could change on Saturday. The Cherokee Trail Cougars will square off against the Grandview Wolves at 2:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Wednesday, Cherokee Trail came up short against Arapahoe and fell 49-38. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Grandview lost to Eaglecrest on the road by a 81-64 margin on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while the Raptors are ranked third).

Grandview has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Cherokee Trail, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

Things could have been worse for Cherokee Trail, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 52-37 loss to Grandview in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Cherokee Trail avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
