Why it's big: Serra should be riding big-time momentum as it enters Friday's game against unbeaten Loyola.

The Cavaliers (3-1) survived a 41-40 overtime classic against state-ranked Narbonne (Harbor City) last Friday. Arizona-committed quarterback Khalil Tate – who was suspended for Serra's blowout loss to nationally ranked Corona Centennial – ran for 295 yards and passed for 201 yards with six total touchdowns.

Not counting games won by forfeit, Loyola is trying to start a season 5-0 for the first time in over a decade. The Cubs begin Mission League play with the No. 12 ranking in the MaxPreps California Computer Rankings presented by the Army National Guard.

Names to watch:
In addition to Tate, Serra has two more seniors committed to Pac-12 colleges. Defensive end Oluwole Betiku is headed to UCLA and defensive back C.J. Pollard plans to play at USC.

Loyola junior Drake Beasley's 689 rushing yards put him among the top 20 rushers in California this season. Also watch for big plays on both sides of the ball from cornerback/receiver David Long, a four-star senior who is committed to Stanford.
