Baseball Game Preview: Immokalee Indians vs. Clewiston Tigers

The Immokalee Indians will head out on the road to take on the Clewiston Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Immokalee is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 21-6 margin over Donahue Catholic on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Alex Vinton made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Immokalee is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-7 otherwise. Vinton was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Immokalee got a massive performance out of Ruben Anzualda, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Anzualda a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aaron Yzaguirre, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Immokalee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Clewiston ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past DeSoto County 7-6.

Jackson Mann and Cayson Holman did most of the damage at the plate: Mann scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Holman scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Osdiel Perez-Rojas was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Immokalee's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-9. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing ten hits in those games compared to only 3.92 in the others. As for Clewiston, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
