Gretna won the last time they faced Nelson County and things went their way on Friday too. The Gretna Hawks came out on top against the Nelson County Governors by a score of 59-46. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.

Despite the loss, Nelson County still got an impressive performance from Colton Ward, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Bryce Giles, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Gretna's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Nelson County, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-4.

Gretna and Nelson County should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. Gretna will square off against Chatham at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 181 places (55 vs. 236). Meanwhile, Nelson County (ranked 106th) will meet Buffalo Gap (ranked 318th) at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
