February 7th was a night for celebrating teamwork, camaraderie, and friendship at
Colquitt County High School in Moultrie, Georgia. The night opened with the Packers' boys' varsity basketball game. Fans filled both sides of the gymnasium as they cheered on their basketball team. As the halftime buzzer went off, MaxPreps and the Georgia Army National Guard took center court to honor the football team on the 10th Annual MaxPreps Football Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard.
Staff Sergeant Jesse Holmes of the Georgia Army National Guard turned to the crowd for enthusiasm and support as he started the Tour of Champions presentation. The fans applauded, the cheerleaders stomped their feet, raised their pom-poms, and the band began beating the drums. It was a proud day for Colquitt County as the entire football team lined the court waiting to hear what Sergeant Holmes had to say.
SSG Holmes described how a team is only as strong as their weakest link; and that this team's weakest link (or lack thereof) is a state championship. The Packers went undefeated this season with a 15 – 0 record. According to the MaxPreps Computer Rankings, they were ranked No. 11 in the nation out of 16,000 teams. SSG Holmes congratulated the team and then handed the Army National Guard national ranking trophy to Coach Rush Propst.
Coach Propst graciously accepted the trophy and was excited to call his seniors up for a picture. The rest of the team joined in as well as the coaches. The crowd cheered in excitement as they celebrated this proud moment. The team dominated this past season and can't wait for what next season has in store for them.
Congratulations to the Colquitt County football team on their state title and national ranking!
