Winning always takes teamwork, but on Friday Xavier Gardley stepped things up a notch to give KIPP King the 'W'. Nobody could stop Gardley as he scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He has become a key player for KIPP King: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-3 otherwise.

Coming up, Gardley and KIPP King will venture away from home to face off against Mt. Diablo at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Red Devils will enter the matchup having just beaten Tennyson, so the Lions will have to guard against a team looking to keep the ball rolling.
