Excel Christian gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They blew past the Virginia City Muckers 13-1. The win was some much needed relief for the Warriors as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Tommy Schoech made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Samuel Mills was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Keegan Davis, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

This is the second loss in a row for Virginia City and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Excel Christian will take on Sierra Lutheran in a tournament on Thursday. As for Virginia City, they will square off against Hug at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
