Preview: Walden Grove Red Wolves vs. Amphitheater Panthers
After two games on the road, Walden Grove is heading back home. They will take on the Amphitheater Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Walden Grove has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 739 points over their last ten matches.
Walden Grove pushed their score all the way to 70 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 79-70 to Mica Mountain. Walden Grove has struggled against Mica Mountain recently, as their game on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
MarQuez Tyree put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 32 points. Tyree is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Ashton Romney was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Meanwhile, Amphitheater was able to grind out a solid win over Sahuarita on Thursday, taking the game 51-40.
Walden Grove's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Amphitheater, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
Walden Grove couldn't quite finish off Amphitheater in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 and fell 76-73. Can Walden Grove avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
