Baseball Recap: Elk Lake Warriors vs. Carbondale Area Chargers
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Elk Lake). Everything went their way against the Carbondale Area Chargers on Wednesday as they made off with a 20-4 win. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by ten runs or more this season.
John Heitsman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Cohen Orlandini was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Logan Ayotte was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Elk Lake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carbondale Area only posted an OBP of .400.
