Baseball Recap: Fort Lupton Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Fort Lupton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 victory over the Lincoln Lancers. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bluedevils needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Jesse Ceretto was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Fort Lupton's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 5-14 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Cade Rhoda, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Fort Lupton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Fort Lupton's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-14. As for Lincoln, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-7.

Coming up, Fort Lupton will face off against SkyView Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lincoln, they will take on Manual at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Thunderbolts have averaged an impressive 11.2 runs per game this season.
