Baseball Recap: West Valley Gets the Win

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Valley). Everything went their way against the Monroe Catholic Rams on Monday as they made off with an 18-4 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wolf Pack in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won seven in a row.

Hudson Wixom made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Wixom was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, West Valley got a massive performance out of Finn Lindsey, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those two hits gave Lindsey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Gray, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

West Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

West Valley's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Monroe Catholic, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-6-1.

Coincidentally, West Valley and Monroe Catholic will both be playing North Pole the next time they take the field. The Wolf Pack will head out to face the Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Rams will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
