Preview: Montrose Blue Jays vs. Sherwood Marksmen
The Montrose Blue Jays will head out on the road to square off against the Sherwood Marksmen at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Montrose and eight for Sherwood.
Last Tuesday, Montrose suffered a tough 53-29 loss at the hands of Sheldon. Montrose has struggled against Sheldon recently, as their game on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Sherwood was the victim of a tough 63-37 loss at the hands of Butler last Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Sherwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 404th, while Butler is ranked 184th).
Montrose now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Sherwood, they dropped their record down to 7-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Montrose couldn't quite finish off Sherwood when the teams last played back in February of 2023 and fell 63-60. Thankfully for Montrose, Ryder Wells (who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
