Volleyball Recap: Victoria Jimenez Garcia Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Surprise Valley + How To Watch

There's no place like home for Burney, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Surprise Valley Hornets on Tuesday as they made off with a 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won four in a row.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Burney was: they took every set by at least 13 points. The final score came out to 25-8, 25-12, 25-12.

Burney's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Victoria Jimenez Garcia, who had 15 digs, six kills, six aces, and one block. Those six kills gave Jimenez Garcia a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Witzel, who had 15 digs, nine kills, and two aces.

They weren't the only good server: Burney was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 28 aces. They are a perfect 4-0 when they serve at least ten aces.

Burney's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Surprise Valley, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Burney will head out to square off against Etna at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Surprise Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Tulelake at 5:00 p.m.
