Baseball Recap: Carmel Christian Extends Winning Streak to Three

Carmel Christian waltzed into their contest on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 12-7 victory over the SouthLake Christian Academy Eagles. That's more bragging rights for the Cougars, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Anderson Rider looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Daniel Williams and Leyton Guhl did most of the damage at the plate: Williams went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Guhl scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That home run was Williams' first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Field, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Carmel Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .393 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Carmel Christian's record is now 3-1. As for SouthLake Christian Academy, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-3.

Looking ahead, Carmel Christian will host Charlotte Country Day School at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Charlotte Country Day School's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Carmel Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for SouthLake Christian Academy, they will head out to face off against Providence Day at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. SouthLake Christian Academy has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
