Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Amaya Bailey and Valentina Simanic Lead Butler to Victory + How To Watch

Butler hadn't done well against Myers Park recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Bulldogs walked away with a 3-1 win over the Mustangs. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 victory the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Butler had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 17-25, 25-15, 25-21, 25-15.

Butler was led to victory by Valentina Simanic and Amaya Bailey. Simanic had eight digs and eight assists, while Bailey had six digs and two aces. That's the most digs Bailey has posted since back in September.

They weren't the only good servers: Butler was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Myers Park only served five.

Myers Park's loss came despite strong showings from Barrett Lacouture and Caiah Lee. Lacouture had 13 assists and eight digs, while Lee had ten kills and four digs. Lee is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had six or more in each of the last eight games she's played. Anya Lee also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Butler is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Myers Park, they moved to 12-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-match winning streak.

Butler has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Mallard Creek on the 7th. As for Myers Park, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Hough on the 7th.
