Football Game Preview: Tarkington Longhorns vs. Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns

Tarkington hasn't had much luck against Hamshire-Fannett recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Tarkington will be playing in front of their home fans against Hamshire-Fannett at 7:30 p.m. Tarkington has given up an average of 41.6 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tarkington is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Silsbee on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Longhorns were outmatched by the Tigers and fell 63-6. The Longhorns were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 56-0.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hamshire-Fannett, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. Everything went their way against Jasper on Friday as they made off with a 35-12 win. The result was nothing new for the Longhorns, who have now won three games by 21 points or more so far this season.

Hamshire-Fannett found their leader in sophomore Dwayne Long, who picked up 127 receiving yards and one TD. Those 127 receiving yards set a new season-high mark for Long.

Hamshire-Fannett's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Tarkington, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
