Basketball Recap: Luke Bowling's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bronaugh over Pleasanton

Bronaugh was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 61-35 to the Pleasanton Blu-Jays. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 563rd in Missouri, while the Blu-Jays are ranked 260th in Kansas).

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Luke Bowling, who posted 12 points and three steals. Bowling has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Strauss Banes was another key player, putting up 11 points along with six boards and five steals.

Even though they lost, Bronaugh smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 15 consecutive games.

Bronaugh's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Pleasanton, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-8.

Bronaugh has already played their next contest (against Northeast Vernon County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Pleasanton, they will square off against Eureka at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
