Basketball Recap: Bayard Comes Up Short

Bayard was the 60-57 winner over Hemingford when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Bayard Tigers took a 33-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hemingford Bobcats. The Tigers just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Despite the loss, Bayard still got an impressive performance from Jayde McAllister, who posted a point in addition to nine boards and six steals. Those six steals gave McAllister a new career-high. Shayleigh West was another key player, putting up eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Bayard smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Hemingford was led to victory by Kylie Kumpf and Bailey Sellman. Kumpf put up nine points and five boards, while Sellman had four points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Bayard's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Hemingford, their record is now 3-17.

Bayard didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 45-32 loss against South Platte on the 13th. As for Hemingford, they have also already played their next matchup, a 49-25 defeat against Mitchell on the 8th.
