Preview: Richmond HomeSchool Guardians vs. Christian Educational Consortium Cougars
Richmond HomeSchool is 1-9 against Christian Educational Consortium since October of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. Having just played yesterday, the Richmond HomeSchool Guardians will jump right back in to play the Christian Educational Consortium Cougars at 1:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.
Richmond HomeSchool's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Bluegrass United 68-21. While losing is never fun, Richmond HomeSchool can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while Bluegrass United is ranked 102nd).
Christian Educational Consortium has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were outmatched by Louisville Saints HomeSchool on the road and fell 51-23. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Christian Educational Consortium has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Christian Educational Consortium saw an underclassman step up: Sophie Hales scored five points along with nine rebounds and three steals. It was the first time this season that Hales pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Richmond HomeSchool has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Christian Educational Consortium, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.
Richmond HomeSchool was taken down by Christian Educational Consortium 72-36 when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Christian Educational Consortium's Jenna Wyndham, who almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine rebounds.
