Volleyball Recap: Palmetto Comes Up Short

If Palmetto was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Carolina Academy on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mustangs fell just short of the Southside Christian Sabres by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Mustangs have struggled against the Sabres recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

While Palmetto ultimately came up short, they really made Southside Christian work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 22-25, 21-25, 25-14, 15-3.

Leading Southside Christian to victory were Lexi Varakin and Lila Englehart. Varakin had eight digs and two aces, while Englehart had 35 digs and four assists. That's the most digs Englehart has posted since back in October of 2024.

Palmetto's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Southside Christian, their record now sits at 5-7.

Coming up, Palmetto will face off against Powdersville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southside Christian has already played their next matchup (against James F. Byrnes), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
