Basketball Recap: Kearney Catholic Takes a Loss

After flying high against Ashland-Greenwood last Thursday, Kearney Catholic came back down to earth. The Kearney Catholic Stars lost to the Gothenburg Swedes at home by a 54-37 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Stars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Swedes are ranked 31st).

Despite the defeat, Kearney Catholic saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Danielle Seim dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave Seim a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Paschall, who posted seven points.

Kearney Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Gothenburg, their victory bumped their record up to 17-3.

As of now, neither Kearney Catholic nor Gothenburg have any future games scheduled.
