Baseball Recap: Discovery Canyon Starts Season with Victory Against Montrose

Discovery Canyon had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They never let the Montrose Red Hawks get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory.

Andrew Torres tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Discovery Canyon got a massive performance out of Cole Teltschik, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. The dominant performance gave Teltschik a new career-high in doubles. Another player making a difference was Nate Singleton, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Discovery Canyon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Montrose only posted a batting average of .000.

Coincidentally, Discovery Canyon and Montrose will both be playing Roaring Fork the next time they take the field. Discovery Canyon will host Roaring Fork at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Montrose will play them later in the day, at 3:00 p.m.
