Basketball Game Preview: Kountze Lions vs. New Waverly Bulldogs

The Kountze Lions will face off against the New Waverly Bulldogs on Thursday. Kountze knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 matchups -- so hopefully New Waverly likes a good challenge.

Kountze is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They blew past Woodville 78-35. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 games by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, New Waverly beat East Bernard 49-43 on Monday.

New Waverly has been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 17 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 24-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points over those games. As for Kountze, their victory bumped their record up to 23-3.

Everything came up roses for Kountze against New Waverly when the teams last played back in November of 2022, as the squad secured a 74-33 win. Does Kountze have another victory up their sleeve, or will New Waverly turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
