Softball Game Recap: North Buncombe Black Hawks vs. Enka Jets

Monday just wasn't the day for North Buncombe's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 3-0 to the Enka Jets, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-2 back in March.

Sadie Jo Hunter spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances.

North Buncombe has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Enka, the victory (which was their 18th in a row) raised their record to 18-1.

Coming up, North Buncombe will face off against Asheville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Black Hawks are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a 20-game losing streak. As for Enka, they will venture away from home to take on Pisgah at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
